When I am painting my whole world exists in the act of putting paint on paper. This act becomes the dance of life; a relationship formed by bits of color that speak to me of water, fire, earth and air.

The movement of my body as it steps into and back from the shifting forms of the emerging painting dances both its suffering and its beauty into the texture of my expression. Alchemy occurs and leaves its trace like a shroud in tribute to my life or like footprints in the mud.

Some technical information:
This selection of paintings are the result of my masters thesis Intuitive Inquiry and Creative Process: A Case Study of an Artistic Practice 2005. They are acrylic on paper mounted and stitched onto cotton or linen backing. Often when I am working the piece grows beyond the original size necessitating the addition of paper as I work.
